Fall Break '11

For fall break last weekend, Pete and I decided to go on a camping trip with our families. We went up to Chain O' Lakes State Park up in Albion. The park was really beautiful while we were there and the weather was great. Unfortunately my mom and sister were only able to stay one night but it was still a lot of fun and we are so glad we were able to go.

Here are some pictures of the trip.

Cole was the lucky one who got a canoe all to himself

Pete is great at steering the canoe :)

Lunch break

After lunch we switched the canoes around and Rachel was in a canoe with me. We were not very good at steering the canoe. We made friends with a lot of trees :)

We had a hammock hanging at our campsite for awhile until the DNR told us we had to take it down.

We decided to take a hike to the Nature Center.

Street View

Yesterday Pete and I were trying to plan a vacation to go on at the end of the summer. While messing with Google Maps we found out that they had taken pictures for the street view mode since we have been living in our current apartment.

It is our cars and our aparment building to the right. We thought it was pretty cool.

What we've been up to

It's been awhile since our last blog post but we haven't been up to much, but I thought that our 3 avid readers might like an update on our lives.

This semester we are both back in school. Pete is taking a calculus class and is planning on CODOing back into Electrical Engineering at the end of the semester. He is still working at SIA, but is only planning on working there until the end of the semester. I'm so grateful for all he is doing for our family this semester. It has to be very difficult for him to work full time, take an extremely difficult math class, and take time for me. He's so great! :) I've just been taking classes for my degree. I hope to graduate spring '12. After graduation I am planning on going on to grad school. I don't know if it will be right after I graduate or if I will just find a job for a year until Pete graduates and then go back to school after we move.

Along with classes I'm trying to read more books this semester. I use to read all of the time and since coming to college the amount I've read has greatly decreased. Any book suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've also been trying to increase my baking skills in the evenings when Pete is at work. I just made a sourdough starter this last weekend and am excited to try making bread with it.

That is about all that we have been up to lately.
